Ending Homelessess..........Well, Mine Anyway

Posted by Larry Pearlman on Saturday, January 7, 2017 In : Everyday Life

I am now getting close to ten years as a homeless person.  That’s not a fair  statement because I feel like I’m trivializing homelessness and I have great compassion for all of the truly homeless people out there.  It is true that I haven’t had “my own place” during this time but I haven’t really been homeless.

In Sept, 2006 I moved out of my residence in Phoenix, having lived in that region for thirty years.  I never lived in that house again having rented it out during the ei...

What Bee in a Name?

Posted by Larry Pearlman on Sunday, September 4, 2016 In : Everyday Life

If you are an American (North or South), what comes to mind for you when you hear the phrase, “Africanized Killer Bees?”  I’m sure there has been a B-Movie (pardon the pun) made capitalizing on the fear that fills the body when hearing this term.  Visualizations of hundreds of bees swarming on tiny poodles, children in playgrounds and adults helplessly falling to the ground thrashing violently before finally succumbing to the inevitable.

Meanwhile, here in South Africa, I sit quietly o...

Here, Now

Posted by Larry Pearlman on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 In : Everyday Life

Here, Now

There was a time, in the Colorado Rockies, when I stood and was transfixed by the sight of the Aspens, the glorious Aspens, shimmering in the wind.  There is that time of year when the leaves are just the right color when “shimmering” is just the right word for the magical display that happens in the breeze.

Here, now, in the veldt of South Africa, I watch the leaves of a tree blowing in the wind.  It is not an Aspen tree.  I don't even know the name that people have given to ...

Reflections on the Cahuita National Park Trail in Costa Rica

Posted by Larry Pearlman on Sunday, December 13, 2015 In : Spiritual Considerations

Young couple standing on the sun-lit beach, their hands together with arms held straight up, lips touching in a soft kiss, the ocean caressing their ankles - a perfect moment.

The jungle is a jumble of vines - some high above the path stretching across to grasp something on the other side - the perfect highway for white-faced monkeys. Other vines wrap around towering, gnarled trunks adorned in ivy-esque attire so thick in places that the trunk hides within it. Others hang down, waiting for Tar...

Follow Your Bliss

Finding Your Bliss

Let me give you an example of how this works.  I spent four years at Rutgers · The State University getting a degree in Electrical Engineering.   Mostly what I learned in my four years was how to play bridge and that I didn’t want to be an engineer.

So when companies sent representatives to conduct interviews to hire people so they could actually go from being poverty-stricken students to being well-respected, tax-paying employees, I didn’t go to any of them.  My mind ...

Location, Location, Location....

Posted by Larry Pearlman on Thursday, March 5, 2015 In : Everyday Life
I’m on the move again.  No – that’s not right.  I’m still on the move would be more accurate.  Since my last post, which was way too long ago, I drove up to NJ where I spent 4 months with my friends Phyllis and Deb (more on that later) and then flew down to Costa Rica for four months with my sweetheart where we facilitated two incredible Retreats.  About a week ago, I left a beautiful hot springs in tropical Costa Rica to return to NJ and enjoy the beauty of snow-laden trees.  Is one ...

Home Is Where The Heart Is

Posted by Larry Pearlman on Sunday, July 6, 2014 In : Everyday Life

If Home is where the heart is
Then may your Home be blessed
A shelter from the storms of Life
A place of rest,
And when each day is over
And toil put in its place
Your Home's dear warmth
Will bring its smile
To light the saddest face!

John McLeod

Just the word, “home” evokes a warm feeling in most of us.  But we certainly don’t all think of the same image.  For those of us who grew up in a home with loving parents and siblings, that scene may spring to mind.  For others, i...

Reflections on Beauty

Posted by Larry Pearlman on Saturday, February 15, 2014 In : Spiritual Considerations

Sitting on a hillside in Ciudad Colon, Costa Rica, I look past the violet, yellow, and green homes with their red tile roofs to the pretty little town nestled in this verdant valley of hills/mountains.  Through the palms and tree leaves swaying in the brisk morning breeze, I see a peaceful blue sky with light, friendly white clouds that join their siblings until they form a solid gray mass at the mountain peaks – not a threatening, rain-bearing mass but rather a subdued gathering of chalk d...

Reveal The Sun

Posted by Larry Pearlman on Thursday, October 3, 2013 In : Spiritual Considerations

I sat on the beach today in Ft. Lauderdale and watched the sun rise.  Well, actually, I watched it being revealed.  How is it that something as powerful as the sun can be almost completely masked by smoky black clouds that are nothing but water vapor?  I’ve never sat still long enough to watch the rising sun play Peek-a-Boo with a cloud bank from the time when Sol is barely noticeable to the inevitable conclusion of the game when even my Ray-Bans offer insufficient protection for direct...

Who Are You to Make the World a Better Place?

Posted by Larry Pearlman on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 In : Everyday Life

How many of us have thought we would have helped Moses change the world if we had been there when he brought down the 10 Commandments?  Or maybe you think you would have been a staunch disciple of Jesus.  Perhaps we wish we were there with Gandhi or Mother Theresa or Martin Luther King.

Well – that opportunity is still available today.  In fact, it will always be available to every person who is willing to accept the Truth and express it in their living.  If you need a current role m...
